This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

Monday 17th May – Friday 21st May 2021
• Benjamin Alexander Thomas Charles, 30, of Avenue Road in Sandown pleaded guilty to stealing £120 of meat from Lidl in Newport. He was made subject to a community order with a 9-month drug rehabilitation requirement. Charles was also charged with possession of 5 wraps of cocaine and assaulting an emergency worker.
• Tyrone Jake Clarkson, 26, of High Street, Shanklin was given a 6-month conditional discharge of possession of 319g of cannabis. He was ordered to pay £85 costs with a £20 surcharge.
• Ashley Hills, 23, of Mountfield Road in Wroxall, pleased guilty to drink driving. He was disqualified from driving for 20 months and ordered to pay a fine of 3220 with costs of £85 with a £34 surcharge. He was fined an additional £73 for possession of cocaine.
• Michael Leigh Phillips, 38, of Adelaide Grove in East Cowes was given a 6-month condition discharge for using threatneing/abusive words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He was ordered to pay £40 costs with a £22 surcharge.
• Wayne Clift, 60, of Salem Road in Shanklin admitted being in charge of a motor vehicle whilst over the drink-drive limit (142). He was given an interim disqualification from driving pending sentencing.
• Glenroy Barnes, 29, of HMP Isle of Wight, was given a 7-day prison sentence and fined £80 for indecent exposure. He was also ordered to pay £34 surcharge also.
• Gary Andrew McDonald, 58, of Terrace Lane in Freshwater was fined £80 for attempting to allow the production of a controlled drug of Class B (cannabis). He was also ordered to pay £85 costs with a surcharge of £30.
• David John Rolf, 37, of Windmill Close in Ryde pleaded guilty to drink driving (52). He was disqualified from driving for 40 months and fined £253, as well as being ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.
• James Smith, 37, care of Landguard Manor Road, admitted theft from a shop to the value of £36.67. He was made subject to a community order with a drug rehabilitation requirement for 6 months. He was also ordered to pay compensation of £36.67 and a surcharge of £95.
• Stacey Burch, 36, of Binstead Road in Ryde pleaded guilty to drink driving (120). She was disqualified from driving for 21 months and made subject to a community order with 15 rehabilitation days and 80 hours unpaid work. She must also pay £85 costs with a £95 surcharge.
• Hadleigh Carkeet, 36, of Well Street in Ryde, admitted drink driving (81). He was disqualified from driving for 21 months, fined £392 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £39 surcharge.
• Elizabeth Ann Gallagher, 37, of Kerry Green Mews in Lake admitted drink driving (91), driving without insurance, driving without a licence and fraud by misrepresentation. She was disqualified from driving for 42 months and made subject to a community order with an 80-day period of alcohol abstinence. She must also complete 10 rehabilitation days and pay costs of £40 with a £95 surcharge.


























































































I think it is awful that you can publish people’s names, you never know what some people are going through, this could lead to more mental health problems, nobody is perfect we all make mistakes, you naming and shaming could lead to suicidal thoughts, so does that make you a killer?
