Disruptive roadworks on Lake Hill are set to overrun into the middle of next week – but the road will fully reopen for the weekend. Island Roads has announced that they are doing ‘additional improvement work’ on the main road between Sandown and Shanklin. It was initially planned that the 5-day scheme would be complete and the road re-opened tomorrow (Friday). However, the work will now finish next Wednesday (20th March) instead. There will be a reprieve for motorists over the weekend though… Lake Hil will re-open at 16:00 tomorrow afternoon and close again at 08:00 on Monday. Disruption for motorists is set to continue until the end of the month though as gangs will move on to Broadway, Sandown for 4 days from Monday 25th March. The road will be closed between Avenue Road and Beachfield Road. An Island Roads spokesperson said last week:
“We are continuing to undertake extensive work at this time of year, enabling us to maintain the network whilst minimising disruption to the strategic network during the summer months. “We have scheduled these schemes, on what is a busy main route, to be completed ahead of the Easter holiday.
