The Isle of Wight Ladies’ Golf Association started their 2026 golfing season at Cowes Golf Club last weekend (23rd March) with the President’s Frolic.
Association President, Maggie Ankers hosted the event which included the starting of a Texas Scramble competition with 21 teams taking part.
Many of the players wore yellow in support of the Mountbatten Hospice which was the chosen charity for this event.
In top spot with a score of 33.5 was the team of Sammi Keen (Freshwater Bay), Angie Adams (Cowes) and Shirley Mawdsley (Osborne)
In 2nd place were Bev Whorwood (Shanklin & Sandown), Shelagh Merrifield (Westridge) and Jenny Tracey (Ryde) with a score of 34.5 and in third position were the team of Rose Green (Ryde), Elaine White (Newport) and Netty Smallman (Osborne) with a nett 36.0
