The Isle of Wight voted by a margin of of over 2 to 1 to remain in the then European Economic Community (EEC) in the referendum of 6th June 1975.
There were 40,837 ‘Yes’ votes as opposed to 17,375 ‘No’ votes with 116 spoilt papers. The result of the previous day’s voting was announced at 13:30 on Friday 7th June. 58,328 votes were cast from an electorate of 87,454 – a turnout of 68%.
After the result had been declared, the Liberal Isle of Wight MP Stephen Ross said:
“It has been quite a fight. I am very gratified with the result and I am gratified with the turnout, particularly as we are now in the holiday season. It was not only a question of people being away, but there were those involved in the holiday trade who might have found it difficult to vote.”
Mr Lawrence Smith from the local Get Britain Out Isle of Wight Campaign had expected the result to have been worse than the national average (67% YES 33% NO) and surprisingly declared himself “quite happy” with the result, having thought his campaign had made inroads into the Conservative and Liberal voters, persuading some to disregard the advice of their leadership on this issue.
41 years later, on 23rd June 2016, the Isle of Wight reversed its decision, with 49,173 Islanders voting to leave and 30,207 to remain – a Leave vote of 61.95% on a turnout of 79,430 (72.3%).
Have we ever left!
Since the oven ready Brexit, more migrants have

All a farce, bit like the Establishments Reform Party.
People think things will change and get better, keep
dreaming it’s all an illusion.
“More chance of the Ferries improving”
Not really and Starmer wants us back in full. Britain is Britain and we make our own rules and laws. I am sick of this Human Rights
Whether Starmer, Badenoch, Davey or Farage

I don’t which of them has broken the country the worst. Thatcher decimated the Navy and every industry that was going that that was British and all the others followed suit. None of them have ever been out for ordinary people to this day.
The problem is that whoever is in power have their same Elite
bosses who give them their orders.
The MPs are only employed to do the donkey work, they have
No say in what goes on.
They give us various parties to make it look like we live in a

The Plandemic showed us different.
I would no lo get vote for any of them, they will still do
what we don’t want them to do, but what their Elite bosses do
want them to do.
The common market was just that, a common market. Light years away from the EU. Ted Heath lied to us. Never mentioned that the vision of the politicians was to morph it into a European superstate with control over so many aspects of our lives .
He also never mentioned until he was out of power that the “referendum” had no standing and regardless of the outcome we were staying in the common Market
