An Isle of Wight firefighter will run the London Marathon next month to raise funds for Island charity The Wight Brainy Bunch.
Kierhan Dry will take on the 26.2 mile TCS London Marathon on Sunday 26th April, aiming to complete the course in under 3 hours while supporting families affected by brain tumours.
Although a seasoned runner, this will be Kierhan’s first London Marathon after securing the single marathon place allocated to The Wight Brainy Bunch.
Kierhan Dry, Isle of Wight firefighter, has said:
“This year I’ll be running the London Marathon to raise money for The Wight Brainy Bunch which is such a fantastic charity close to my heart.
“It’s a huge personal challenge, but knowing the money raised will support such an important cause makes the training and the miles even more meaningful. There will definitely be tough moments, but knowing I’m running for The Wight Brainy Bunch will keep me going.”
The Wight Brainy Bunch was founded by Ryde firefighter Mark Grimes and his wife following his diagnosis with a brain tumour in 2015. The charity supports Isle of Wight families affected by the disease through emotional and financial assistance.
Kat Grimes, The Wight Brainy Bunch, has said:
“We are humbled that Kierhan has chosen to represent The Wight Brainy Bunch at this iconic event. Running 26.2 miles is tough and a significant physical and mental challenge, requiring extensive training and commitment and we wish him the very best of luck.”
