The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary has launched a new fundraising lottery offering players the chance to win up to £25,000 while supporting the care of over 100 donkeys, ponies and a mule.
The lottery costs just £1 per ticket and includes a weekly draw. Players can win a jackpot of £25,000, with 60% of every ticket sold going directly to the sanctuary.
Funds raised will help cover the costs of medical treatment, food, and shelter for the sanctuary’s many residents – many of whom are elderly or require ongoing specialist care. In 2024 alone, medical costs exceeded £100,000.
Among the sanctuary’s latest arrivals are Fred and Roo, who required £4,000 worth of treatment, including a stay at Liphook Equine Hospital, before they could be safely rehomed at the sanctuary.
Stephen Tobitt, General Manager of the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, has said:
“We are deeply grateful for the generosity of our supporters who enable us to continue to provide a safe and loving home for rescued donkeys.
“In 2024 our medical costs exceeded £100,000 and with all our costs continuously rising, we’d love for people to get involved with the new lottery. Every ticket sold is a win for our donkeys and it might well be a win for you!”
As part of the launch, anyone who enters the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary Lotto by 28th June 2025 will be automatically entered into a Super Draw. The prize package includes a stay at the award-winning Luccombe Hall Hotel in Shanklin, a £250 Wightlink ferry voucher, and a VIP donkey day at the sanctuary.

Sorry….jackpot £25,000 , yet medical treatment cost over £100, 000 in 2024 alone . .. so why lotteries, this I can’t understand or get my head around, you charities are bellyaching for financial support and funds yet you run weekly lotteries with a jackpot of £25 000. Stop the lotteries and use the donated money for the donkeys instead.
