The Isle of Wight is seeing increased demand from schools looking for a cost-effective way to complement their curriculum and support practical learning outside of the classroom – but more accommodation providers are needed.
As a result of this increasing demand, Education Destination, a specialist education travel provider based on the Island, is looking for many more accommodation providers to help satisfy unparalleled demand from schools across the country.
Jon Carter, Managing Director of Education Destination – which this year celebratea a decade in business – has said:
“Looking ahead, we anticipate generating over £1 million directly into the local economy each year, not including secondary visitor spend. Providing an essential economic boost during term time and out-of-season periods.
“Additionally, this long-tail marketing approach reaches parents and guardians, highlighting the Isle of Wight as a premier holiday destination for them and their families. Generating further opportunities right across the Island.”
With over 10,000 students having visited the Island with Education Destination over the past decade, generating over £3.5million in direct revenue for local accommodation providers, attractions, venues, and countless local businesses, the Isle of Wight is now firmly established as a unique and popular destination for schools across the UK and well placed to take full advantage of this tourism opportunity.
Whilst the company already work closely with a number of the Island’s accommodation providers and attractions, due to high demand from schools looking to visit the island, the company is looking for many more to help satisfy demand. If the demand is not met, it can result in schools moving their trips to other parts of the UK, losing valuable revenue for the Island’s economy and all those working within the tourism and hospitality sectors.
Jon adds:
“The Isle of Wight has clearly established itself as the premier destination for school trips and I would encourage accommodation and attraction providers to get in touch, so that together we can facilitate even more trips to the Island”.
However good this sounds from previous experience when certain events like this and the school football event a few year ago caused many holiday homes to have excessive damage so I dont think people will be so welcome to these ideas.
It’s good for business.
