IMMIGRATION TEAMS ARREST ALBANIAN MAN AT COWES CAR WASH

Home Office Immigration Teams have visited a car wash in Cowes this afternoon (Friday), arresting a 31-year-old Albanian man.

Officers arrived on the Island at lunchtime as part of an intelligence-led operation, making their way to Somerton to visit the ‘British Hand Car Wash’ opposite BAE Systems.

A spokesperson for the Home Office has said:

“Acting on intelligence, Immigration Enforcement officers visited Somerton car wash, Cowes, Newport Road at approximately 2.45pm today (Friday).

“A 31-year-old Albanian man was arrested as he had entered the UK illegally and had no right to work. He is detained pending removal from the UK.

“The operation was supported by officers from Hampshire Police.”

Immigration teams are also understood to have visited Eastern Eye in Sandown this evening and another establishment in Shanklin. Further details on this visit are currently unavailable.
