All hovercraft crossings between Ryde and Southsea have been cancelled this morning (Friday) as Hovertravel suspends its service due to a technical issue.
The cross-Solent operator has not expanded on what exactly the issue is.
It’s understood the affected craft is Solent Flyer, which is currently returning to Ryde from Southsea. Sister craft Island Flyer is already out of service.
An update is expected at 10:45 this morning.
Tickets are being accepted on Wightlink’s Fastcat service to and from Ryde Pier Head.
Hovertravel apologises for any inconvenience.
UPDATE @ 10:54 – Services will resume at 11:15 from Ryde.

Anybody know where I can rent a rowing boat it would be more reliable
imbecile….my friend commutes every day on the hover and she said that is the first cancellation because of technical problems since before december last year…..hardly unreliable
So many technical issues arising with our seafaring craft, makes you wonder how we managed to build them in the first place!
They have the Solent Express why don’t they use that
