Cross-solent operator Hovertravel has suspended its services between Ryde and Southsea this evening (Wednesday) due to a technical issue.
The last crossings of the day have been cancelled, forcing those expecting to travel with Hovertravel tonight onto Wightlink’s Fastcat service instead.
No details have been given about the specific technical problem, or how long it is likely to take to repair.
Hovertravel says that an update will be provided at 05:45 tomorrow morning.
UPDATE THURSDAY – Services have resumed as normal this morning, Hovertravel have confirmed.

Strange, isn’t it, how so often with the ferries and hovercraft that it’s the early morning and last crossings at night which get cancelled due to ‘technical difficulties’?
I wonder what the reason for that could be?
How lucky for the cross-Solent operators that these problems mostly occur at off-peak times, rather than when they are at full capacity.
Any clues there Cath.Bit opaque for my feeble brain alas ? They wouldn’t be trying to…’tie one on’ perchance would they ?
