Hovertravel has been forced to suspend its Ryde to Southsea service this morning (Wednesday) due to adverse weather conditions on the Solent.
Strong winds, married with the tidal conditions, means that it is unsafe for the Flyer hovercraft to operate.
An update is expected at 08:00 but there is no guarantee that services will resume at that time. Tickets are being accepted on Wightlink’s Fastcat service in the meantime.
All other cross-Solent services are running to timetable, but Red Funnel has warned that there may be disruption to its hi-speed Red Jet service between now and Friday, due to the predicted weather.
A flood alert for the Isle of Wight coast is now in force having been issued by the Environment Agency earlier this morning.
UPDATE @ 06:57 – Red Funnel has announced the cancellation of the 06:40 Red Jet from Southampton and the 07:15 return from West Cowes due to a generator issue on board Red Jet 6.
UPDATE @ 08:02 – Hovertravel has confirmed that services will resume at 08:15 from Ryde.
