Around 1,400 properties in the Newport area have been hit by a power cut this morning (Monday).
A total of 96 postcode areas are without electricity as a result of the fault, which became evidence at 09:32.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks are aware of the problem and engineers are on site working to get the power restored as quickly as possible.
It is anticipated that supplies will be restored by 12:30.
Sainsbury’s in Newport has had to close as a result of the outage, with its backup generator failing to keep the power on for shoppers.

Bit harsh the utility workers on the ground do a amazing job working hard so we have gas/electric/water etc it’s not there fought things break and in the real world things do break keep up the amazing work utility staff on the ground as for office staff just sit in your nice warm offices doing nothing
