Isle of Wight residents aged 16 and over will now have the chance to borrow a physical activity smart watch from their local library as part of a new pilot project.
The Physical Activity Smart Watch Loan Scheme will run until March 2027, offering library members the opportunity to borrow an Amazfit Bip 6 smart watch for up to 6 weeks – completely free.
This initiative gives residents the chance to try physical activity smart watches that tracks movement, monitors health, supports wellbeing, encourages healthier habits and to seek support.
Participating libraries include Cowes, Freshwater, Newport, Ryde, Sandown and Ventnor.

Councillor Clare Mosdell, chair of the Adult Social Care, Public Health and Housing Needs Committee, said:
“We’re excited to launch this innovative scheme, which puts health and wellbeing at the heart of our community.
“Physical inactivity is a major contributor to poor health outcomes and differences in health between communities.
“By making physical activity smart watches accessible to everyone, this scheme supports community-led health improvements, helping residents to move more and enjoy the social, physical and mental benefits of being physically active”
