Gritters are to be deployed across the Isle of Wight this afternoon (Tuesday) and again some 12 hours later. Island Roads’ gritters will leave their Stag Lane depot at around 16:00 this afternoon with another run to commence tomorrow morning (Wednesday) at around 04:00. Today will be the 3rd day in a row that gritters have treated roads across the Island. Temperatures overnight yesterday (Monday into Tuesday) reached as low as -7.6 which was recorded by local weather forecaster IW Met Service in Sandown. It looks as if the team at Island Roads are to be kept busy until the weekend with freezing temperatures expected on Thursday and Friday too.
