After a slight hiatus, the Island Roads gritters will once again be hitting the Island’s road network as a result of the forecast low temperatures overnight.
It is expected that the mercury will drop below freezing tonight (Thursday) and into Friday morning. As a result, gritters will be deployed from 03:00 to treat the roads with salt.
Motorists are being reminded that additional care should be taken when driving and that ice can still form on roads that have been treated.
To find a list of all the Island's gritting routes, you can visit our dedicated Isle of Wight Gritting Routes & Winter Maintenance page.

Why grit? There’s no moisture on the roads, so nothing to freeze.
What does need gritting on is the
Vauxhall Corsa hj62zpv that is permanently parked outside
90 Great Preston Rd
Everyday for months this vehicle has been parked on the pavement.
Obviously the family responsible have no respect for other persons.
This is a police issue parking on pavements is not allowed .
so come on mr plod slap that ticket on it
You haven’t been far, water on many roads
Plenty of moisture on some roads. Ground water levels are very high due to recent exceptional rainfall, so plenty of water coming out the ground at many points around the island. But you can bet some idiots will still be rolling their cars whether gritting is applied or not.
Rain we’ve had very little since Christmas where have you been
So glad my tax money is going to fund Ukrainian corruption AND incompetent council services 🙂
What a really stupid comment. Just attention seeking in its lowest form.
Carry on supporting a corrupt nation because they’re “the good guys”
Ever read the wikipedia article on LGBT rights in “Ukraine”?
Commenting on here appears to be the highlight of his sad and pitiful day.
My council tax money is paying for the stupid F’cukers
who park their car on the pavement along Great preston Rd
os the old council houses, causing obstructions to all the drivers who drive along
Great Preston Rd
It’s about time these idiots thought of others
Double Yellow Lines are coming, but so is Christmas
