A couple of seaside chalets in Gurnard will be demolished, paving the way for a new 2-bedroom house.
The council has waved through Mr and Mrs Huxford’s planning application to demolish 15 and 16 Marsh Road in Gurnard – number 15 being in a ‘very poor state of repair’, according to a submitted Planning Statement.
The Huxfords’ proposal includes the construction of a new home, classed as market housing, at the application site looking onto the Solent.
Plans show the building, raised 1.3 metres above the ground with supporting columns, would have 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen/living area.
It would also comprise a small, decked area and 2 existing parking spaces.
A County Hall decision report says:
“The proposed replacement chalet would be proportionate in design and scale to the existing dwelling and would not adversely impact on the amenities of neighbouring property occupiers or the surrounding area.”
Planners attached three conditions to the approval to reduce flooding risk and comply with Island planning policy and national legislation.
