37-year-old Louis Dauncey, who stole a host of items from numerous high street retailers, including a bunch of flowers, has been told by Magistrates to ‘stop stealing’.
Dauncey, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to 4 counts of theft from a shop, when he appeared at Isle of Wight Magistrates earlier today (Tuesday).
Appearing via video link, prosecutor Serena Edwards, told the court that the first of the 4 offences took place on 16th February in which Dauncey stole £171.91 worth of clothing from TK Maxx. Around a month later, Dauncey stole £97 worth of goods from Tesco Express in Newport, before stealing £12 worth of flowers from Co-op in Sandown 6 days later.
The final offence, which occurred on 8th April, saw police locate Dauncey with stolen shoes and socks in Church Litten. The items, which still had security tags on, were recovered and returned back to Deichmann.
The court heard that Dauncey has ‘a number of convictions’ on his record.
Defending Dauncey, his solicitor told the court her client was homeless at the time of the offences, and was ‘stealing to survive’.
Magistrates who told Dauncey to ‘stop stealing’ was ordered to pay a compensation order of £280.92.
