Firefighters have this morning (Wednesday) tackled a small kitchen fire at a retirement housing complex in Binstead.
2 appliances from Ryde were mobilised to Farriers on Pitts Lane at just gone 09:30 after a microwave grill caught light.
Crews have used breathing apparatus and a hose reel to extinguish the fire, and Positive Pressure Ventilation to rid the building of smoke.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has now stood down from the incident, however a rapid response paramedic from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service is checking over the occupants of the residential flat.
