UPDATED: Fire crews from Newport, East Cowes and Ryde are responding to an alarm activation at St Mary’s Hospital in Newport this evening (Thursday).
At least 4 appliances are on scene at the North end of the hospital building near to maternity, the stroke unit and the children’s ward.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were mobilised at just gone 18:00.
UPDATE @ 18:38 – Following an inspection of the hospital building, it has been deemed that the call out is a false alarm.
Crews are now standing down and returning to station.
