UPDATED: Multiple fire appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have been called to Gurnard Pines this evening (Sunday).
4 appliances from Cowes, Newport and East Cowes are at the scene alongside the water carrier from Freshwater.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are tackling a chalet fire within the estate.
The alarm was raised around 19:30.
UPDATE @ 20:32 – Graham Orchard, Tactical Advisor for the incident has confirmed that crews have been faced with a well established fire in the roof space of a single storey log cabin.
Upon the arrival of the first appliances flames and smoke could be seen issuing from the roof.
A lot of fire damage has been sustained to the roof space and structure, with water damage to the rest of the property.
Station Manager Orchard says it is too early to say what caused the fire, but further investigations will be carried out.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are checking over the occupants of the cabin.
UPDATE @ 21:43 – 2 more appliances and the Incident Command Unit are now on scene as firefighters continue to tackle the property fire.
The incident has been ongoing for more than 2 hours now.
UPDATE MONDAY – Fire crews have been called back to Gurnard this morning to damp down hotspots at the damaged property.
2 appliances from Newport are on scene having been mobilised at 10:00.
