Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have been called to a block of flats in Ryde Town Centre this afternoon (Saturday).
The incident has occurred on Castle Street and has seen fire appliances from both Newport and Ryde respond, arriving on scene at around 13:45
It is believed a fire has broke out in a block of flats at the Dover Street end, however there are no visible signs of fire.
Firefighters have been in and out of the property and it has been confirmed to Island Echo that a hose reel jet was used to extinguish a blaze in a nearby outbuilding to the side of the property.
Island Echo understands that no injuries have been sustained with residents evacuated from the block as a precautionary measure.
The road is currently blocked at the junction with Dover Street.
It is unclear when the incident will be cleared.
At least it’s not too far for the Southsea engine to travel this time!
