UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are responding to an alert at St Mary’s Hospital in Newport this morning (Thursday).
Some areas of the hospital have been evacuated as a precautionary measure whilst fire crews inspect the building.
2 appliances from Newport are already on scene and a further appliance from East Cowes is en-route.
The alarm was raised shortly before 08:40.
UPDATE – Patients and staff have been allowed to return inside. Fire crews have now stood down.
