The Falconry Experience – which was looking to relocate from Havenstreet to Butterfly World – has had to scrap its initial moving plans, but the business has said that other moving plans are at an ‘advanced stage’.
Those behind the business had announced plans to relocate to Butterfly World earlier in the autumn however these ideas have been put paid to due to ‘financial reasons’.
It is believed that the existing aviaries will not withstand the premises change and so new ones – costing around £30,000 – will need to be built. However this isn’t financially viable.
The Falconry Experience had previously looked for donations to help make the move possible.
Previously based at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway in Havenstreet, the business will continue to provide a service in the form of private paid-for sessions, but the current premises in the local village has closed immediately.
A spokesperson from The Falconry Experience has said:
“We regret to inform everyone that after assessing our current situation, we’ve determined that our existing aviaries cannot withstand the upcoming move.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Butterfly World for their incredible support. While this setback is disappointing, we assure you that this is not the end for us, and we appreciate your patience as we explore our future options.
“The falconry centre at Havenstreet is now permanently closed. However we will continue to provide our private sessions. Please email us for bookings or direct message through Facebook, as our phone lines are due to be cut off.”
“Other relocation arrangements are currently being discussed at an advanced stage.”
All of the birds in the care of The Falconry Experience are still being looked after by professionals.
