This year’s Isle of Wight Sheepdog Trials have been hailed a success, with competitors from across the UK descending on the Island for a weekend of skill, spirit and support for Mountbatten Hospice.
The event, held across Saturday (7th June) and Sunday (8th June), saw 52 dogs run over 2 days of competition at Rowlands Lane, thanks to generous field access and livestock provided by Angus Baird.
Despite challenging weather on Saturday, both competitors and spectators turned out in strong numbers, with organisers praising the dedication of volunteers, car park attendants, judges, bar staff, food concessions and traders who made the weekend possible.
A special thank you was given to event sponsor Red Funnel, along with day sponsors Go Internet and BCM.

Floyd Farthing was the standout competitor of the trials, securing 1st place on both days. On Saturday, he claimed victory with his dog Sal, scoring 88 points. On Sunday, he triumphed again with Nip, achieving a near-perfect 87 points.
The competition was judged across 6 key elements: outrun, lift, fetch, drive, shed and pen – with a maximum of 100 points available per run.

Great fun day well supported for mountbatten reasonable tea and coffee in the marquee food on stalls 9.00 for a sausage or bacon roll I know it’s farm to fork food but pretty off-putting prices
Too many places are taking the piss with their
prices.
Since the pandemic prices have gone silly.
I use to visit Puckpool Park for a coffee whilst
walking the dog, but £4 for a flat white is off putting.
I thought parks were for locals, obviously not.
The prices are for holidaymakers who don”t mind
paying extortionate prices.
I now take my flask.
