Reports of an electrical fire at the Kingston Power Station in East Cowes led to the mobilisation of fire crews during the early hours of this morning (Friday).
At 00:42, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to a possible fire at the power station on Kingston Road, prompting an emergency response by crews from East Cowes and Newport.
The building’s internal drenching system activated, alongside the fire alarm.
However, upon arrival of firefighters it became clear that a system fault was to blame.
A thermal imaging camera was used to check for any signs of fire before a decision was made that no further action was required.
