After fierce competition, East Cowes Town Council has awarded the contract for the rebuild of the town’s skatepark to Betongpark Ltd.
It was back in October that East cowes Town Council (ETC) secured the public funding for the major project resulting in the end of a decade-long campaign to replace the dilapidated skate park on Vectis Road.
Town Mayor, Councillor Tracy Reardon, said:
“We are very excited to be able to take this project to the next stage and provide a skatepark that we hope will become a showcase for the Island. We are confident we have appointed a great team from Betongpark Ltd, a company who are well respected both nationally and internationally. We are looking forward to opening a great new skatepark for everyone in 2025”.
Stuart Maclure, Development Manager of Betongpark Ltd, has said:
“Betongpark are excited to be working alongside East Cowes Council and the local community to create a new skatepark in East Cowes where there is a strong skate scene. This is our first time working on the Island and we hope it is the start of many projects here.
We look forward to meeting the local community and getting feedback to help us reach a final design to take to site. The new concrete skatepark, to be built on the existing site will be formed of both street and transition elements and will be suitable for all ability levels”.
Zoe Thompson, Skatepark Project Advisor for the Town Council, added:
“With the next steps to getting a new park for East Cowes moving forward, we really appreciate the Town Council’s commitment to making sure this project comes to fruition in 2025. Betongpark is a great company, with a brilliant track record across the UK and Europe. This is a skatepark build with a small budget, but we know Betong are committed to creating the very best for the local community. We will be planning some more youth activities to run alongside this project and hope to do some fundraising to boost the budget. property I always get a tradesman from Pompey, even though
they have to pay the Ferry Fares, still much cheaper than
island rates, and to be honest, better workmanship.
