The East Cowes arsonist – who has been on a campaign of setting vans alight in the town – has struck again tonight (Friday) by attempting to set a fire underneath yet another van.
1 fire appliance from East Cowes was mobilised to York Avenue at 19:43 to reports that a fire was developing to the nearside front of a parked van.
On this occasion, firefighters arrived to discover that the fire had been extinguished – or had self extinguished – before it could take hold of the Ford Transit Custom belonging to ADT.
This appears to be the same modus operandi of the mystery arsonist, who has seemingly been setting fires underneath the front of numerous vehicles, allowing the flames to take hold and destroy the vehicle.
Police are investigating this latest incident which is being treated as an attempted arson.
This idiot needs to be caught ASAP before someone gets killed can’t police set up a trap can’t be hard park van in York ave watch it for couple of days and catch the idiot
Bit ironic it was a ‘fire and security’ van! Must be some grainy cctv footage/ring door bell pics of the scratter who is doing this.
The potential destruction of a vehicle fire… like an explosion. Petrol tanks are enclosed, but in the event of a fire they can easily combust. This needs sorting out big time. It should be considered an act of terrorism. It is an act of terrorism as defined by the Terrorism Act 2000.
Police need to get their finger out on this before something more serious happens .

Works vans are a menace being parked up in residential roads that already have parking issues and I m o should be left in the yard but I’m sure your avenue hasn’t got a parking problem and setting fire to vans is extreme.
Van man are all drugged up chav’s, that’s why when we see them, they are sat in the vans doing deals on their phone….there’s a fibre club dealing along with people that work on Ro*ds doing the same thing….

So he has attempted to set another vehicle on fire where he has done it multiple times. Lets just hope that someone put a camera up watching there. Knowing the Isle of Wight council /police probably not. And anyway if this person was any decent arsonist he would of set fire to a tesla by now worth more money than a van
What an idiot. Obviously hates it how so many housing estates on the island look more like industrial estates with all the work vans parked at peoples homes. Needs to get over it, stop attacking the people who are just trying to earn a living.

I’m intending van sleeping whilst inbetween house move. Not ideal but I’m OK with the idea OR was. Not so sure now. Don’t want to be set on fire!! Probably won’t sleep at night!!
