34-year-old Andrew Hill, who led Police on a pursuit through the streets of Oakfield before crashing into a parked car and fleeing on foot, has been handed a prison sentence.
Hill, of Slade Road in Ryde, pleaded guilty to drug driving, careless driving, failing to stop, driving without a licence and driving without insurance when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning (29th July).
Lauren McConnell, prosecuting, showed dashcam footage to the court which documented the moment Hill reversed into a house before leading Police on a speedy chase along the High Street, onto St John’s Hill and into Upper Highland Road on 13th November last year.
Magistrates heard that Police had been alerted to possible offences being committed after Hill left a residential address at around 15:00 that afternoon. Within minutes, officers had intercepted the car on Harding Road.
In an attempt to get away, Hill reversed into a house, causing damage to a drainpipe. Officers used an asp to smash the driver’s window in a bid to stop the 34-year-old. Instead, he sped off in the direction of St John’s Hill.
The pursuit was short-lived as, just a minute later, Hill smashed his VW Polo into a parked vehicle. He instantly fled the scene on foot, scrambling over the top of the Police car to get away.
He was arrested moments later following a foot pursuit. He was later found to have levels of both BZE and THC above the legal limit in his system.
Hill has 58 convictions for 163 offences and is currently in custody at HMP Winchester on recall.
Magistrates handed Hill an 8-week prison sentence and a 32-month driving ban. He was ordered to pay £313 compensation to the occupant of the house.

so this lowlife, who already has 58 convictions for 163 offences, and was found guilty of drug driving, careless driving, failing to stop, driving without a licence and driving without insurance..
and presumably was out of prison on licence (if he’s currently in custody on recall)..
was given a measly 8 futher weeks in prison & banned from driving for 32 months.. even though he’s proved that he’s not in the slightest bit deterred from driving by not having a licence…
do they really think this sentence will make the slightest bit of difference to him, or his behavior… he’s probaly having good laugh at it…
You are so right , the sentence is a joke.
Well said.
How many offences does one have to have before they
are banged up for good.
don’t even get much time for murder ..so no hope.
Law in 2025 Britain is like a marshmallow
Soft.
Under certain circumstance, the magistrate should have the power to ban people for life.
Driving is not ‘a human right’.
Only 58 convictions for 163 offences, how soul destroying for the police service, and such a let down for decent law abiding citizens that this guy has gotten away with just under 2/3rds of all his offences. Our legal system needs a huge overhaul. How many times has a legal beagle stated “My client has seen the error of his ways, and is working though his issues!” It’s not even 3 counts and you are out!
I see slade road is attracting the usual vermin, that it has always had to endure for decades
Andrew hill was in my year at high school. He hasn’t changed at all. Very troubled individual. I remember him being arrested at a very young age for stealing his mum’s car and driving it through Ryde! They can keep putting him in jail for these short periods, but truth is he will always be this way.
Andrew Hill: 34 years old, 163 offences, and still managing to be the human equivalent of a road cone with a vape habit. His latest attempt at villainy involved reversing into a house, crashing into a parked car, and then fleeing by clambering over a police vehicle like a rat escaping a Greggs bin. It’s less ‘career criminal’ and more ‘unpaid extra in a low-budget Channel 5 documentary called Britain’s Dumbest Men’.
Prison isn’t punishment for Hill — it’s home with room service. At this stage, Winchester should just engrave his name on a cell door and fit him for a loyalty card: ‘Commit 10 crimes, get your 11th conviction free.’ The only thing more repetitive than his offences is society’s patience with this oxygen thief masquerading as a man.
Eight weeks, what
What an absolute joke of a sentence! S string of previous convictions and clearly out on licence from prison already if he was recalled! Wow! Take that sir! I hope you’ve learnt your lesson and oh, please don’t do it again!
Should be in custody for months or years but he’ll be out and driving in no time!
How many offences and convictions does it take for the courts to realise he won’t change. He is sticking two fingers up to the courts.
There needs to be a direct deterant. The courts should be ordering the car used in the crime be crushed. The incidence of all these crimes involving cars would plummet
How would that help,.. he’d just steal another one…
It comes to something when the police have to use small poisonous serpents to smash car windows
pathetic sentence scum..
Why cant these just go ..
Pathetic should be at least 1 week for each offense.
If there was any justice in this world, the powers that be should strap this piece of human filth into the driving seat and crush the car with him in it.
That was the worst get away driving Ive ever seen
