A suspected drug driver has been arrested by Police after officers smelt a waft of weed coming from his vehicle as he drove past a road traffic collision they were attending.
It was around 21:00 last night that emergency services were called to a collision involving a number of vehicles on Blackwater Hollow on the outskirts of Rookley.
Whilst officers from the Roads Policing Unit and Response & Patrol were dealing with the initial incident, their attentions were drawn to a vehicle that passed the scene with a strong smell of cannabis emanating from it.
As a result, the driver was pulled over and a drugs wipe was conducted at the roadside – which returned a positive indicator for cannabis.
The driver was arrested and taken into custody at Newport Police Station, where blood tests were taken and sent off for analysis.
It is likely the driver will appear in court later this year charged with drug driving, depending on the outcome of the blood tests.
More interested story is how so many cars were involved in a single accident on Blackwater hollow. I drove past something like 6 to 8 cars up there and thought there was a car club meeting or something.

Why for gods sake will this absolute twat appear in court later this year. Get the test done ASAP and if it shows drug in the system get him straight to court and sentence him . Licence lost for 12 months minimum on top of jail time and heavy fine.
These pot heads are gonna kill someone one day, drive like the idiots they are and think they’re invincible! Well, I don’t give a flying f**k about what harm they do to themselves but innocent people are being put at risk!
