Nearly 500 people danced the night way to music from across the decades – and raised £3,000 to support patient care at Earl Mountbatten Hospice (EMH).
It brings the total raised through the annual DECADeANCE event, held since 2009, to around £20,000. While most of this – £16,116.46 – has benefited the Hospice, organiser Tony Martin has also been able to donate a substantial sum to the Barely Born Appeal.
Tony came into the EMH John Cheverton Centre recently to meet Liz Arnold, Director of Patient Services, and Jill George, Community Nurse Manager, to officially hand over the £3,000 cheque and to discuss plans for this year’s event on 22 November, to be held once again at Cowes Yacht Haven. DECADeANCE plays music through the decades with revelers traditionally in fancy dress or dressed to impress to add to the occasion.
Liz said:
“To organise such a successful event on this scale with support from local businesses and individuals, then raise such an amazing amount of money towards patient care is a great achievement and very much appreciated.
“The £16,116.46 raised goes a huge way to continuing the care we provide for patients of our local community. I’ve also offered to help in the cloakroom this year but may need some encouragement to get dressed up”.
Tony said work was well underway in preparation for this year’s event.
“It promises to be bigger and better than ever before. We are delighted that such a fun and popular event also raises a great deal of money for local good causes such as Earl Mountbatten Hospice.”
Tickets will be on sale soon and more information can be found on the DECADeANCE Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/pages/DECADeANCE/117365695045282.
