Police and paramedics are attending a road traffic collision involving a cyclist and a car in Freshwater this afternoon (Friday).
The incident has occurred on Gate Lane at the junction with Blackbridge Road.
Emergency services – including the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, St John Ambulance and Freshwater’s Co-Responder – were called to the scene at 15:25 and remain in attendance.
Motorists should avoid the area for the time being, diverting via Afton.
UPDATE @ 16:30 – The road has now reopened, Police have confirmed.
The cyclist – a male in his 20s from Newport – has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by land ambulance, although his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.





















































































Have you seen the level of parked cars along there at any time of day. It isn’t safe to walk along there let alone cycle. But, of course, when there was a proposal to implement no parking along that stretch of road it was very strongly objected to and was kicked out.
