Police have erected a cordon outside County Hall in the heart of Newport tonight (Wednesday) – just metres away from the town’s police station.
Emergency responders were called to the scene on High Street sometime around 21:30 following what is thought to be a serious assault.
The incident has occurred directly opposite Newport Police Station.
A smashed glass bottle can be seen within the cordon, alongside medical equipment.
It’s understood at least 1 person has been conveyed the short distance to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment, although the extent of their injuries is unclear.
Police have established a crime scene whilst they await the outcome of initial medical assessments.

Someone getting glassed outside the Police station…….just about says it all. Where are these low life coming from
and why would a human being feel the need to put a glass into another human being? Some people!!!!!
There no different from a dog thats out of control, some humans haven’t evolved like the majority of the human race…
Not a police station if it’s close, just a building.
Saves on fuel lol
crime scene but not looking for anyone of interest, this lockdown has had some people on the edge of madness doing exceptional things to get help, sevenacres had a rooftop protest recently, there may be another explanation, outside the police station is a red flag, if so lets hope they get the help they need.
i was wrong, just scumbag vermin..
Terrible – any Beryl scooters involved?
Yeah, it was a hit and run (or scoot in this case).
A lot of comments ! Does anyone actually know what happened ?
Highfield road is in Barton not Pan
Argh, so the 20 yr old idiot got what was coming to him. He damaged someone’s car, then the car owner handed out some justice.
Sad but only way as the courts do nothing.
fair play to the car owner.
As the courts fail to give meaningful sentences to the countless low life paraded before them, then some people will understandably deal with such beings themselves, as the law only cares about ‘handing out an crime ref no.’ as Police KNOW that even IF they arrest the trash, the courts won’t back them up now.
