UPDATED: Rush hour traffic heading in and out of Newport on Staplers Road is being diverted this evening (Thursday) as a result of a road traffic collision.
Police and paramedics are currently attending the incident around half way up Staplers, close by to the former Polars building.
A motorcycle and a car – a Ford Fusion – have collided.
Southern Vectis Route 9 buses via Staplers are diverting through Pan Estate until further notice.
UPDATE @ 18:02 – The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are also on scene due to a fuel spillage.
UPDATE @ 18:46 – Staplers Road has now re-opened in both directions.
The scene has been cleared.
