UPDATED: The volunteer crew of Cowes RNLI Lifeboat have launched to assist a yacht that has become dismasted to the north of Wootton Creek this afternoon (Monday).
Solent Coastguard requested the assistance of Cowes RNLI at just before 13:20, with the Atlantic-class lifeboat launching around 10 minutes later.
Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue ~(GAFIRS) have also launched to the same incident and are working with their RNLI colleagues.
UPDATE – The 41ft casualty vessel ‘Amalie’, with 4 crew on board, has been towed to Haslar Marina in Gosport
The damaged mast and rigging has been cut free and is to be collected at a later date.
