The Isle of Wight Council has apologised for delays to the delivery of its 2026/27 recycling and waste collection calendars, with residents still waiting for the annual booklet to arrive.
In a post shared on social media this week, the local authority confirmed that the calendars are ‘coming soon’ and will be delivered by Royal Mail ‘in due course’.
The Council said:
“We apologise that there has been a delay with the delivery of your 2026/2027 waste calendar.
“Residents should note that there are NO changes to their collection days in 2026/27.
“Calendars will be delivered to all residents by Royal Mail in due course.”
Residents have been advised to check their collection days online via the Isle of Wight Council website while they wait for the printed calendar to arrive.
The apology has sparked frustration from some Islanders, with questions raised over why the annual booklet has been delayed, given it is produced every year.
It also comes after issues with last year’s waste and recycling calendars, when some households either failed to receive the booklet or were sent incorrect versions and had to request replacements, as previously reported by Island Echo.
There are currently major changes taking place with waste services on the Isle of Wight, with Veolia having taken over the Island’s waste and recycling contract from April 2026 under a new 2-year agreement worth millions of pounds.
Island Echo – please ask under the Freedom of Information how much it costs to produce and deliver these booklets.
Most people know their collections dates and check on the website.
For the residents that want printed information – perhaps a stock could be kept at County Hall to collect and posted to people that call up that want one?
So I need to pay to travel to collect or pay for a call to receive what I should already be getting. This is a service we already pay for with our council tax payments. It’s totally unacceptable as it happened last year as well!

do you really need to look at a piece of paper every week… to tell you that you have to put the bin put on the same day as you did last week?
the only time I look at it, is at Christmas… & by then I’ve usually lost it,.. so look it up on the council web site…

don’t see what all the fuss is about…
bin collection day is the same every week / month (has been for years), & only changes (by a day or two) at Christmas… which is 7 months away,..
