Work on the new 250 square metre restaurant, which will be run by franchisee Amsric Foods Ltd., will begin in August. However, it’s currently unclear as to when customers can expect to order their first variety buckets outside of Newport.
It was over 2 years ago that Island Echo exclusively revealed that plans were afoot to open a second KFC store on land at Merrie Gardens between Sandown and Shanklin. The news was eventually confirmed a year later in February 2017 before a planning application was submitted in June of that year.
Some 50 jobs are expected to be created.
KFC currently operate just 1 store on the Island at Furlongs, Newport. A second store in Union Street, Ryde closed back in December 2012.
UPDATE TUESDAY – It has been confirmed to Island Echo that the new KFC Lake will open at the end of November.
A KFC spokesperson has said:
