UPDATED: Police and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are attending an ongoing incident at Kent Street in Ryde this evening (Saturday).
4 police units, an ambulance and ambulance service officer are currently at the scene off Oakfield High Street.
Locals tell Island Echo that emergency services are responding to concerns for a male, who is said to have caused a self-inflicted injury.
Southern Vectis’ Route 2 bus is currently stuck in the High Street as a result of this incident.
The incident began shortly before 18:15.
UPDATE @ 19:35 – The ambulance has been escorted directly to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport under blue lights.
A total of 3 Police vehicles – including the unmarked armed response car – have accompanied the ambulance on its journey.
Island Echo is told that the man has ‘stabbed’ himself.
