COASTGUARD RESCUE TEAMS DEPLOYED TO COMPTON

UPDATED: Coastguard Rescue Teams have been tasked to an incident at Compton in the West Wight this evening (Thursday). 

A Coastguard Rescue 4×4 from Ventnor responded through Niton towards Compton at approximately 18:25, with the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 175 from Lee-on-Solent flying overhead.

Coastguard Helicopter 175 has been hovering around the area around Compton for some time. It is understood that the team will be airlifting a casualty to hospital.

UPDATE @ 19:45 – Eyewitnesses say that the helicopter has landed on the cliff top at Compton Farm and a patient has been taken into the back of an awaiting land Ambulance.

UPDATE @ 20:17 – It has been confirmed that the unknown patient has been winched from the beach and passed into the care of the ambulance service for transport to hospital.

Coastguard Rescue Teams from Ventnor and The Needles have worked with the Freshwater Co-Responder and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
