A search for a missing child has seen multiple of the Isle of Wight’s coastguard teams called out to Ryde this evening (Saturday).
At around 19:00 Coastguard Rescue teams from Bembridge and Ventnor were called to Western Gardens on Ryde Esplanade, after a child was reported missing.
The search was focused to the left of Ryde pier with that the last seen location of the child.
Police arrived on the scene at around 19:45 to assist the coastguard in the search.
Efforts to locate the child are still ongoing.
UPDATE @ 20:35 – HM Coastguard has confirmed that the child has been found.
All Emergency teams have now stood down.

Good news the child was found, what age is the child?? Could it be another irisponsible gardien??…parents should never forget their responsibilities when enjoying a holiday or enjoying the summer….
Not the most helpful comment. You don’t know the age of the child of the circumstances. Could have been a 12- year – old that went off to buy an ice cream some distance away and couldn’t then locate the area of beach that ‘guardian’ was on An ‘irresponsible’ comment.
Your spelling and response is irrisponsible.
Letting you know
Everything written was understandable,. the spiteful spelling comments could harm the confidence of those who have say Dyslexia, As a teacher you should reflect on your need to be spiteful and learn to BEKIND.
what is a gardien never come across that before – takeit english isnt your strongest subject
I spose they could of left the chyld sumware and furgot it
Gobby, I guess the irony of you criticising somebody else for their spelling mistakes is lost on you…
Just letting you know,Your a sad little weirdo hiding behind a keyboard just too get a negative reaction from people. You need to get out and get a life you pathetic creepy little weirdo!
You seem to be suffering from anger issues, see your GP and get him or her to change your medication…
Sad person don’t know anything about it
police were asking local businesses in the area about a missing 7 year old.
I rest my case…
Letting you know: That’s just hearsay, we don’t know if it applies to this case, therefore it cannot be taken as fact. They may be excellent parents (may have even been out with a friends mum even).
I know of a childcare facility that lost a child on the cliff path a few years ago, and knowing what I of the circumstances they were at fault. However, I do not know know enough about this case and neither do you. I would love to know who you are because I wonder if I would rate you as ‘parent of the year’? With your spelling probably not.
Thank god the child is safe. Every parents nightmare. It does not mean the parents bad parents. They could have been dealing with another child or turned their back to place something in a bag. It can happen in seconds. I did the same thing when I was 5 on Blackpool beach with mum, dad, aunt & uncle. My brother & I went to the sea edge, someone splashed me so I turned and walked the other way. I hadn’t walked far but turn back & couldn’t see my mum or dad. I kept looking.Mum & dad was frantic until they found me & they were very loving parents.
BLINK & THEY ARE GONE.
Similar happend to me as a child on Bournemouth beach, I lost all sense of direction but my mum and dad found me eventually, must admit it is one of those episodes that stayed with me probably for the the rest of life. As a child you don’t think to look out for landmarks, I do now.
No matter what parents should keep an eye on their kids full stop!!! Glad the child was found safe and well. The beaches are so packed go with them even if they think they are old enough obviously not!
The weirdos on here are not having any of it….more will be along soon…
It has to be age appropriate: if you have a 14 -year – old that has seen some friends playing volley ball down the other end of the beach, and they have asked to hang out with them for a while and may go off to get a snack you can’t say no in case you get lost. Come on
Amazing work by the islands services, mostly volunteers.
