Ryde School is celebrating its strongest-ever International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) results after pupils achieved the highest average score in the school’s history.
Results published this week show the 2026 cohort achieved an average score of 35.8 points – well above the global average of 30.88.
The IBDP is marked out of 45 points, with a quarter of Ryde School’s candidates achieving 40 points or more – a result equivalent to AAA at A Level.
Head Master Will Turner has said:
“These fantastic results are a testament to the hard work of our pupils and staff.
“To achieve the best historical average in the School’s history is a phenomenal achievement for this group of pupils and they can be incredibly proud of their achievements.”
Among the highest achievers was deputy head girl Livia, an Isle of Wight resident, who secured 39 points and has earned a place at the University of Oxford to study French and Italian.
Other pupils have also secured places at leading universities, including Durham University and University College London.
Ryde School offers the IBDP alongside the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) and A Levels, providing pupils with a range of academic pathways to suit different learning styles and aspirations.
Grades for pupils studying the IBCP were also released this week, with the school reporting strong performances across the programme.
Final results for IBCP students will be confirmed in August when BTEC grades, which form part of the qualification, are published alongside this year’s A Level results.
