COASTGUARD CALLED TO KAYAKER WAVING FOR HELP OFF COWES

Coastguard Rescue Teams and Cowes RNLI lifeboat were called out to reports of a kayaker waving for help off Cowes earlier this afternoon (Easter Monday).

The Needles CRT and Bembridge CRT were tasked at 13:15 to reports of a kayaker needing assistance near Cowes Esplanade.

Solent Coastguard also requested the launch of Cowes’ inshore lifeboat.

However, once on scene, it was ascertained that the lone kayaker had been successfully aided by a passing vessel.

The incident was quickly resolved and search and rescue teams were stood down.

Cowes Lifeboat was stood down prior to hitting the water.
