A classic BMW – and the garage it was stored in – have been completely gutted by fire following a blaze in Shanklin earlier tonight (Sunday).
It was just gone 18:00 that fire crews from Sandown and Shanklin were mobilised to Sandown Road, near Skew Bridge, when flames erupted from an outbuilding.
As first reported by Island Echo, black smoke was sent billowing into the dusk sky as the blaze ripped through a garage – and engulfed what is thought to be a BMW 3-series convertible.
Firefighters utilised main jets and hose reels to douse the flames and bring the situation under control.
New photos reveal all that is left is the burnt out remains of a motor vehicle and the charred wooden structure of the garage.
Thankfully, no one was injured in this evening’s blaze and no residential property was affected.
Sandown Road has now reopened in both directions.
