More than £1,200 has been raised for the Isle of Wight Prostate Cancer Support Group thanks to generous donations made by Island residents when having their Christmas trees collected this year.
TDG Tree Services began their charity fundraising collection back in 2019, raising almost £5,000 for local charities in the years that have followed. Each year, TDG collect Christmas trees from Island households in return for a minimum donation of £7 per tree.
Charities to benefit to date include People Matter IW, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, Foodbank IW and The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary.
This year, a total of £1,225 was raised for IWPCSG. This money will help to provide support for individuals affected by prostate cancer and help fund PSA testing events, which can facilitate early detection and treatment for local men over 40.
A spokesperson for the local firm has said:
“We are grateful for the continued support of island residents, and we hope to provide this popular service for years to come!”
