Breaking News Featured on Alexa/Google Assist First reported by Island Echo


UPDATED: Police are investigating a break in that occurred at a convenience store in Sandown during the early hours of this morning (Saturday). 

Response teams rushed to Central Convenience on Perowne Way after being alerted to the burglary, which is thought to have taken place sometime between 03:00 and 04:00.

Upon arrival it was discovered that forceful entry had been gained to the premises.

Central is situated in a residential area between Sandown and Lake, opposite the Fairway holiday park.

It’s understood an amount of cash, alcohol and cigarettes have taken by persons unknown.

The shop remains open for business as usual today.

UPDATE @ 10:42 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that entry was made via a back door.

A small amount of cash, packets of cigarettes including Rothmans and other brands, and 3 bottles of Smirnoff Vodka were taken from a store room.
