A car has rolled onto its side blocking the main road through the village of Havenstreet this afternoon (Thursday).
A Suzuki S-Cross has been involved in the single-vehicle collision, which occurred shortly before 14:55.
Police are on scene close to the junction with Church Lane, near to The White Hart pub.
It’s understood the Isle of Wight-registered vehicle was travelling up the hill and hit the verge and a concrete bollard, sending the vehicle over.
With no alternative way through the village, motorists are being advised to divert via Wootton or The Downs.
The road is closed from the junction with Firestone Copse Road to Briddlesford Road.
No one is thought to have been injured in the incident.
UPDATED – Following the recovery of the vehicle and the clearing of debris, the road has now reopened to motorists in both directions.

Wow wasn’t called Beethoven by any chance ?????
Driving with out due care and attention then
Must of been going a bit fast to roll it right over judging by the look of the roof
Going to fast for the roads around there. The bloody Ass
That ‘bollard’ looks remarkably like the milestone !! (Thank goodness no one was walking there at the time)
I’m certainly NOT buying one of those! You clip a verge in a 30mph zone and it flips over!!!
30 mph through Havenstreet?? Going a bit slow then…..
Just another island driver, that can’t drive….agresive and brain dead…
Driving with out due care and attention, to fast, HAVENSTREET should be a 20mph zone. to be safe 25mph is the tops.
Foot on the wrong pedal?

You don’t need speed to flip a car, just total lack of focus
100% right. Seen it with my own eyes a few year ago coming out of Whitwell. Behind a car going slow and zig zagging about like the driver was drunk or something. I kept my distance. Then boom clipped a grass bank and over it went. Was an old fella that should never have been driving. What it does take is someone not capable of driving safely. Mandatory retake of theory test every 10 years. Don’t have to be old to be unable to drive throw poor health or slow witted.
There seems to be something about Havenstreet that causes cars to suddenly turn over; is there some kind of ‘Bermuda Triangle’ force at work?
Iwould be easy to do an underbody corrosion check in that position.
More bad driving on the island.
It might have been a Suzuki S-Cross but it’s more like a Suzuki S-Absolutely Livid About It now.
Cars are just getting too so big to stay on the road
Yea. Why are cars just getting bigger and bigger? Do people realy need them that size? Soon wont be able to pass each other on the island roads.
