A car has overturned in icy conditions in Apse Heath this morning (Christmas Day).
Police and paramedics are in attendance on the main Sandown to Newport Road at Branstone Cross.
Island Echo understands that a Citroen C1 overturned and came to rest of its roof sometime before 07:50.
Gritters were out and about across the Isle of Wight last night with the IW Met Service also advising of the risk of black ice.
No one has been seriously injured in the crash, which has resulted in the road being closed in both directions from Watery Lane to Winford Road. Motorists can divert locally via Winford.
Recovery is on scene and the road is expected to re-open in due course.
UPDATE @ 10:50 – The road has now reopened.
