UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Police are attending a road traffic incident in Shanklin this morning (Friday).
A motorcyclist is said to have come off his bike on Victoria Avenue at the junction with St John’s Road.
Emergency services – an ambulance and 2 Police cars – are on scene having been alerted to the situation at around 08:30.
Motorists should avoid the area for the time being whilst the incident is cleared.
UPDATE @ 09:43 – 1 person is being conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital as a result of the collision.
The scene is expected to be cleared shortly.
UPDATE @ 14:31 – It has been confirmed that a single motorcyclist came off his bike after slipping on some oil left on the carriageway.
No car was involved.
