A burst water main has left those living in the village of Nettlestone without water overnight and into this morning (Saturday).
Eddington Road – the only road connecting Nettlestone and St Helens – has been closed in both directions as contractors work as quickly as possible to repair the burst.
Those living in the PO34 5EB postcode area are affected by the disruption on what is set to be the hottest day of the year so far.
It’s not the first time that a main has blown in the area, with Southern Water having previously worked on Eddington Road on several occasions.
A spokesperson for Southern Water has said:
“Our teams will be carrying out urgent maintenance in your area. You may notice short interruptions or pressure changes to your supply throughout the day.
“We’re really sorry for any inconvenience this might cause, we aim to complete these repairs as soon as possible.
“When your water comes back on, you may notice some minor discolouration or low pressure; this is completely normal and is only temporary”.

For whilst Captiva will have the thousands of homes fitted with new pipe work, the water main supply the sites from the Ashey reservoir is not replaced.
So all they do is increase the pressure to meet demand. Then more frail pipes burst.
