Access to the remembrance area at the Isle of Wight Crematorium is currently limited due to the closure of a bridge within the grounds. The Isle of Wight Council took to its official Facebook page to break the news earlier this week. Severe water erosion has declared the bridge unsafe and access will be removed until the New Year when the situation is rectified. On a more positive note though, the majority of the Woodland Walk is to be open this Christmas after a few unsafe trees were removed. An Isle of Wight Council spokesperson has said:
“You are welcome to lay Christmas Wreaths in the Gardens of Remembrance at the Crematorium and in council-owned cemeteries. “These will be taken away during the week of 8th January. Families are more than welcome to take their wreaths before this date if they wish.”
Anyone who has an issue with the closure of the remembrance area of any concerns about the fact is urged to call 01983 882288.
