A cream tea fundraiser at Briddlesford Farm has raised an impressive £1,169 to support Island families through local charity Home-Start.
Hosted by Home-Start Patron Judi Griffin, the annual event welcomed volunteers, trustees and supporters – both past and present – for an afternoon of tea, cake and community spirit. Among the guests was the High Sheriff of the Isle of Wight, Jacqueline Gazzard.
Home-Start IOW has been helping Island families since 1997, matching those with young children to trained volunteers who visit each week, offering practical help and emotional support during challenging times.
As well as in-home support, the charity also runs invite-only parent-and-child groups that encourage bonding, development and connection with other local families.
Alison Griffiths, Scheme Manager at Home-Start Isle of Wight, said:
“The Briddlesford Cream Tea is a highlight of our year. We were absolutely delighted to see so many friends and supporters on the day raising a fantastic £1,169.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us – and to the amazing team at Bluebells for the delicious cream tea. Your kindness will make such a difference to the families we support.
Not everyone has a couple of hours per week to spare, but there are other ways to support us. Help spread the word, make us your charity of the year, or organise fundraising activities for us – and we’d love to hear from you.”
